Festival Quilts

The Foothills festival was this past weekend and I think I saw one the best parades ever. It was really neat! Horses and all kinds of things!! One of the horses decided to show off and reared. Only problem is it slipped in it's neighbors waste, and fell on over. It was frightening. Turned out the horse and the rider were ok. (Maybe on hurt ego!!) I got quite a few quilts finished for this 'big' event, and even had one to sell right before the festival. This year sells were down. People weren't buying as much as they usually did. (At least that is what some shop owners told me!) Loads of people stopped and admired, and couple of people were coming back to get some.
I started the 'cat' quilt this week, I've gotten one block embroidered with 6 more to go. I'm not sure when I'll be posting again it is getting hectic around here. We've had to go to Burkesville to see a man in the hospital a couple times this week and this Sat. is the Fellowship meeting at our church, and I've got some things to do for that, and then this coming Tuesday we are starting our revival. In the meanwhile I MUST get this quilt done by the 2nd week in December---and it will be here before you know it!!

This and that

Been doing a little every thing, or should I say a bunch of nothing?! Well, I know I haven't posted for a while, so I thought I'd at least post something! Caleb is doing much better, they came up with a bacterial infection in his colon.
I've been working on my quilts, though I'm getting a little stressed. I've got til the 19th to get the baby ones done. I'm on #6 right now. I've dropped the goal number to 10 and sure hope I get at least that many done.
Today I went to the church and started stenciling the letters back on the sign. I only got the 1st coat of stenciling done on one side, and that took me a little over 4 hours. It will look much better than it did before we decided to re-do it!!
Well, now it's late and I'm getting tired. So I stop blabbing and let ya'll go to bed!

A hectic day

Wednesday Caleb came home with dirareea, no big deal right? That's what I thought until all I saw was mucus and blood. I must say I freaked out!! We rushed him to the hospital, and they did exrays blood and stool samples, and after tramatizing the poor little boy, and scaring us , they decided to admit him. After getting Caleb set up in his room, David took Emily and Matthew home. Matt and Emily DID NOT want to go home with out mommy, and Caleb did not want mommy OR daddy to leave him. He's a momma's boy, and wanted his mommy beside him.
All that night I sat beside him worrying, praying, and worrying some more. "Would my precious little boy who had just seen his 7 th birthday be all right? I might ad, I had brought a quilt to quilt so I wouldn't go nuts just sitting beside of him, and as much as them "Pesky" nurses came in and out, who COULD go to sleep?! I was glad, Caleb slept good all night long, inspite of the nurses. (I don't know how he did it!)
By yesterday morning, it was no longer blood, but very runny stool. Our doctor came in, and said the ex-rays and things looked normal. That they were thinking a bacteral infection in the colon. She said if there was no more blood she would release him that night. Thanksfully there was no more blood the rest of the day, and he got released.
Now we are back home. The boys were all snuggled against each other last night, and it seems like everything is back to normal! I sure hope so, any way! I can't stand to see any of my babies sick or hurting!

Quilts,Quilts, Quilts!!

Finally I got this King size 'Lonestar" quilt finished!! It took 40 some hours to complete. I got very calloused fingers out of the deal, but I love doing it!! It is so rewarding when you finish the quilt take it out of the stand, and see the finished product. I must say, it turned out beautiful!! I'm so pleased because my stitching is getting prettier and prettier. My minonite friend showed me a way to keep it more even, and I've been having fun trying the new technique. I've seen some beautiful quilts with just pin-point stitching, and I'm working on making mine look that good!!
Now I'm feverishly working on 15 baby quilts to have done before our Fall Festival, here in Albany. The ladies at the store want atleast 15 to have hanging at their store when the Fall fest is going on! It's the third week of October, and I have just completed the fourth one! I should be able to go a little faster, now that I have that 'Lone Star' completed!!

Caleb is 7!

It is so hard to believe that Caleb is seven!! It seems just like yesterday, that I was holding my precious bundle of joy. I was a proud momma, Caleb was born on Sept. 5, 2000. He only weighed 7lbs 8 oz, and was 19 inches long!! Believe you me, I thought that was TINY!! Matthew weighed over a pound more, and was 3 and 1/2 inches longer! I'm so glad God gave me two handsome healthy little boys!!
We had a little party after church for him. He wanted a cake with a John Deere tractor working in the dirt, and some cows too. So, ofcourse I complied. I made a "dirt" cake, and it was the hit of the party! We had two little girls over that think, my boys are going to marry them some day!! (Ha!Ha!!!!!) Also the Tarter, and Joseph, Mabel and Lora. Don't let me fail to mention, Lora is like my adopted daughter. It was her b-day too, only she turned 16.

Emily's new 'House Coat'.

Emily loves to steal my things. The latest, is my robe. You should have seen her in it!! She puts it on, then wants me to roll the sleeves up and she stumbles around in it. I think it is at least Twice as long as she is. (It comes to the floor on me!) The other day I got a 'Bright' idea. I had a snap down robe, that I don't wear that often, why couldn't I just alter that one, and it could be her "Big Girl" robe, just like mommy's?
I tried it and it worked. She loves it, she wants to wear it to bed every night, and would wear it all day long too, if I'd let her!!

Quilts

Here's a couple of quilts that I've been working on!! The one on the floor, I now have done!! All I had to do to it was bind it. It was David's bosses wife's. The one in the frame is the one I'm working on now!! I can't wait to get it done. It is the 'Lone Star' pattern. I'm hoping to be done with it by the end of the week. I'm sure you can tell, this frame about takes up my WHOLE living room. I'll be glad to have it down again for a little while, before I put the next "BIG" quilt 'in'.

Ms. Em's new apron!

My mom sent some material for me to make Emily an apron a while back. Well..... a few months later, I found the bag of material and decided that I'd better go ahead and make it!
Result??? Emily loved it. She loves to help cook in the kitchen, unload the dishwasher, set the table etc... She's definitely Mommy's little Helper!!

Thursday, August 23, 2007

Well, I don't have any pictures today. Things have been pretty busy around here! The boys really like school this year, and it has been going pretty well there. the other day Emily and I were sitting at the table, and here is the course of our conversation. I said, " Emily do you like staying home with mommy?" She answers giving me a BIG hug, " Yes, I love being at home with my mommy." So I decided to remind here that next year she was going to school (Kindergarten) with the boys. With a roll of her eyes, and looking our the window, she responded....."Don't even talk about it! MY daddy, DOESN'T WANT ME to go to school!!!!" HaHaHaHa!!!!! Weeeeellllllllll, I said, "It doesn't matter whether He wants you to go or not, you'll be starting school next year."
She is always talking about getting to ride the BIG yellow bus with the boys, and being in the same school, she always seemed excited before, I don't know what was in her that day! She seemed a little bit bored for the first few day of them going back to school. Now, though I think she likes getting all of the extra attention she gets when the boys are gone.

About my quilts!!

As I mentioned in one of my past blogs, I'm getting into quilting!! I love to create them and quilt them. My latest was a Jean, John Deere Tractor Quilt. It can be either a wall hanging or will fit, a baby bed. You talk about a cute turn out. I used the rag style. A sewing store up town was so impressed with them they want me to start making some for their store. They said they could sell them for me and want me to make 15 or more up before the Fall festival in October. I'm really excited, and hope this could be the beginning of something. While I was in the store another lady came in and put an order in for a queen size 'cat' quilt. Word is really getting around. I've got three more quilt tops (1 king and 2 queen size) for another person to quilt. A king size Dutch doll quilt top to quilt, and order for two Book style baby quilts to make for another person. So needless to say I think I'll be busy for a little while!

Caleb's 1st day of school!!

Well, the 1st day of 2nd grade is here for Caleb, we walked into Ms. Renee' Paragin's room and found his desk. We saw a couple of the neighborhood's girls were in his class, so I thougth surely things would go easier. But Caleb's has quickly noticed that his best friend from last year ( Luis) was not in his class this year, and was very sad about that. Then to top it off he was really missing last years teacher, Mr. Nate. (he thought the world was hung by him!!) I was dreading the departure scene. To make matters worse, Matthew wasn't across the hall from his class this year. Last year Caleb's class was the only 1sr grade class on the third grade hall. Needless to say Caleb was feeling rather alone, and a little nervous, not sure if he really wants to go back to school. I could hardly bear the BIG brown eyes looking back at me begging me NOT to leave him.....
As you know, he DID survive his first day, and by the second he came home telling me about a new friend he made!!

Matthew's 1st day!!

Matthew in his room on the first day of school. Hie s putting his backpack in his locker and seems excited.... but a little nervous....

First day of school for my boys!!

Matthew and Caleb had their first day of school for the year this past Wednesday, at Albany Elementary. Matthew is going into 4th grade and Caleb 2nd grade! It is hard to believe that another school year is started, the summer's gone by sooooo fast!

Going to camp in Orleans, Indiana

This year when we went to camp we took two of our teens with us!! It was the best camp I have ever been too. The preaching was so good, so deep, and the Lord really moved in camp! We had the Craig Line family and The Victory Trio as the workers!
It was just what I needed to become a more determined Christain. the kids of course loved it too. Not so much for the services as the fun they had running around with their friends, and playing on the playground, going to the snack bar etc....
We had a really nice two room cabin this year, had a couch, kitchenette etc... in it!

Quilting

The reason it has taken so long for me to blog this week, is because I've been busy quilting. I just finished up this baby quilt Saturaday, it turned out adorable, I think I used a daisy kingdom cloth book for the blocks, and on the blank blocks I cross-stitched/embroidered BABY, with a block left just for recording the baby's info. This week I have been working on a tulip design king size quilt. On this one I'm just hand-quilting the back to the front for a friend. I didn't make the blocks up. It is taking FOREVER and MANY little, little stitches to get this accomplished!

Father's Day!

I think David had a wonderful Father's day this year!! He DOES make an awesome daddy!! Our three children think the WORLD of him!! Of course I do too!! I brought him breakfast in bed Sunday morning, and then the children carried their gift in. For dinner we had Ham (his favorite) homeade rolls (another favorite) green bean casserole stil another favorite, mashed potatoes, and last but not least, the meal was topped off with Cherry Cheesecake!! I had a very happy man that day!
